In 1997, Lynn Peer, a 30 year veteran Retail Store Designer who had just lost his job as a result of a corporate merger , began building a birdhouse as a Chistmas gift for his future daughter-in-law. Using barnwood and other antique objects that he had acquired through his many years of 'collecting', he constructed a one-of-a-kind keepsake that would change his life forever. Having discovered a hidden talent, Lynn constructed another unique 'fowl dwelling', ultimately selling this first piece less than six months later. Under the advice and support of his wife Patty, they decided to attend a wholesale crafting expo the following year, 'just to see what it was all about'. 'All we really wanted to do was recover the cost of the booth and the hotel,' Lynn confessed. What they recovered was more than 300 orders for his custom-designed, unique fowl dwellings, and a new outlook on life. 'I do this 7 days a week and enjoy every minute of it. Looking back, I wonder why I didn't start years earlier.'
